(Aburd)Minds

Noumenon

[CD]

By: Boris

(Absurd)Minds is a techno outfit from Germany consisting of Stefan Grossmann, Timo Fischer, and Tilo Ladwig. Noumenon, houses seventeen (!) tracks of harsh, extremely sterile, emotionless techno/digital stompings. Each song is built roughly on the same melody that made the previous one and never branches off. The music and synth instrumentation is "tired," quite expected, and over used. The vocals are delivered in a flat, monotone, and very cold manner.

The music lacks excitement and energy. It comes across as a soundtrack to the slaves of "the machine" in the silent film "Metropolis." (another German creation! go figure!) With seventeen tracks to choose from you would think that there would be plenty of space for a few hits, but each song is non-climactic and trudges away at the same monotonous tempo that could be mistaken for your own heart beat. I'm only being honest with you, folks. The musicianship is very questionable as well here. It literally sounds like the songs were all written on the same day, on the same three pieces of digital equipment, by guys who had just gotten the equipment and were trying it out. I hate to be so blunt (or rude), but I'd feel really terrible recomending that you run out and buy this. Unless, of course, you ever wondered what it would sound like if MIMES released an album!!!!!
