Achilles Hospice [CD] By: T.J. |
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times-I don't care for hardcore music. I find it too repetitive and 90% of
the bands in the genre sound the same. While I can agree that there are other genres that also fall victim to this, I
find it most annoying with hardcore. Thankfully Rochester's very own Achilles stay away from becoming 'just another
hardcore band' by adding different textures and layers into their song structures.
Start and stop tempos combined with the mathematical angle of their brand of hardcore, Achilles is one of the VERY few bands of the genre that don't completely bore the piss out of me. "To the Teeth", "Raping the Dead", "Swallow" and the untitled bonus track are highlights on HOSPICE and show why Achilles should be a force to be reckoned with. If hardcore is where you get your jollies, I strongly believe that this band will leave you weak in the knees.
