French death metallers Agressor have been around in one form or another since 1987. While their recorded output has been far from prolific, nonetheless albums like 1994’s ‘Symposium of Rebirth’ have made an impact on the extreme metal underground. ‘Deathreat’ is the band’s fifth full length, and while it certainly delivers the brutality, intensity, and musicianship that old school death metal fans crave, to be completely honest it doesn’t do much to distinguish itself. Don’t get me wrong, this is a good album. It’s just nothing you haven’t heard before, and never really rises above the level of moderately enjoyable for me.
