All Shall Perish

The Price of Existance

[CD]

By: T.J.

With the release of HATE.MALICE.REVENGE last year, All Shall Perish re-ignited the love that many of us have for technical death metal and grindcore; much in the vein of Dying Fetus and early Cannibal Corpse. Fortunately, for all of you little dirty glazed eyed, mechanically precise zombies, the guys are back with THE PRICE OF EXISTENCE. As the second effort (in what I can only hope) is a very long and bright future, THE PRICE OF EXISTENCE, is just astonishing. With the maturity and quality of these songs, you'd figure these guys were seasoned professionals who've been at this for 10 or 15 years.

THE PRICE OF EXISTENCE is a drumming enthusiasts wet dream. Matt Kuykendall is an absolute behemoth skin shredder and kicks your head completely off your shoulders leaving nothing left of your skull but a bloodied pulp. The album itself is brutal. Point blank. There is no use running; it will stalk you, sneak up behind you and rip out your spine through your neck. While songs like "Eradication", "The True Beast", and "There is No Business to be Done on a Dead Planet" are the gleam in the eye of death/grindcore, the band has a more tame and melodic side which can been seen through "Wage Slaves" and the almost beautiful instrumental "Interlude" which gives the band a little more credibility (like they needed it) by showing another dimension of their sound.

Clearly another winner for All Shall Perish, Nuclear Blast Records and fans of extreme music.
