And One

FrontFeuer EP

[CD]

By: Hydro

Flooding the market with much new music and sending the safety boats into a bobbing frenzy wit all the dancing people And One is back within a month of their release of Bodypop. Their brilliant new five track Ep is by name Frontfeuer and by definition synthpopus maximus. Their latest album (which came out about 2 weeks ago) was great but I actually believe this Ep nudges into the lead by just a hair. Granted most likely these songs probably came from the Bodypop recording sessions so it just shows that the band was spreading the material around to give more to the fans.

Track one I believe is my favorite out of the five. “Rearming Strafbomber” is a bit sing-a-long and definitely has a body moving chorus. The album moves seamlessly into track two called “Master Master” and is easily another favorite on the album. Clean bass and catchy lyrics make the listener’s head move infectiously in a very up and down motion. Then onto another body mover called “A Kind of Deutsch” which reminds of a few things Imperative Reaction has done, though I think it is due to similar gear and similar sounds. I can easily see this song becoming a good (::cringe::) remix single. Let’s just not think about that and move along to well written original music. “Steine Sind Steine” is up next and this one is sung completely in German. I expect at least one or two of any German bands material to be in their native language. That might sound like a big “duh” type of comment; however two of KMFDM’s releases in recent years had not German lyric tracks on them. So needless to say I get skeptical at times. But, this track is a bit more on the mellow and the groove gets right into the back of your cortex and gives it a message. The final track is called “The Force” and is pretty darn good also. It brings that mellow dance groove to the forefront and is a nice track to wrap up the album. It has a nice piano piece toward the end that brings on the visualization of the album bowing out.

All in all this is a very solid release that And One has graced us with. I hope these guys keep bringing music out for a very long time to come. I’m going to give this an 8 out of 10 on my meter of no name.
