Angels And Agony Unison [CD] By: Hydro |
Falling from grace and right into the dance floor comes the Netherlands own Angels and Agony. They’ve left a legacy of tantric club hits in their wake and now bring us yet another full length offering called “Unison”. Europe is littered with electro bands from every genre imaginable. Much like the punk scene of the world one needs to weed through all of the redundant and horribly written songs. Don’t look for anything particularly ground breaking with this album, but you can count on it being solid and full of darkly tinged electro dance tracks. A&A bring in equal parts of Assemblage 23 and VNV Nation. I will admit that I’m not all that familiar with their back catalogue. Though, in the long run that doesn’t stop what my ears hear as good music.
The opener track is just fitting by name of “Emersion”, because that is just what it does. Then the album proceeds to put you into a trance of solid catchy dance filled electro tracks with hints of guitar. This albums theme is varied but I can see the hints of other worldly (more ethereal and universal then netherworld) thought and delving into the psyche just a tad. I tell you I’m willing at this point to check out the bands other albums. Some stand out tracks on this disc are: “Watchers” (straight up dance song with some really catchy synth lines), “Unison” (Title track with a good message), “Traveler” (more psychedelic driven dance number), “Lethargy (Rise)” (good build up and great lyrics), and “Inner Light” (a bit more on the bizarre which nicely breaks the monotony of the album). If you want a solid dance album then check this out, because Angels and Agony are damned good at what they do. |
