Asphalt Blaster
The White Chip
CD

By: Black Angel

Today, it is my deepest pleasure to bring to you one of hottest rock bands in the Atlanta scene.. Asphalt Blaster A band that some may know all to well, then some might not have a clue as to who these guys are. To start with I will tell you that the lead vocalist of this band Johnny Colt,(The Metal Guru) was the original bassist for the Black Crowes When the Crowes were actually good. It is my opinion that Colt should have been the singer for them anyway, no offense to Chris Robinson of course. The other members of this band are legendary as well. Ted Otto-matic is a fabulous guitarist that has been in several bands throughout the years. California Jim, who has played guitar with the best of them and continues nightly. Sadly I don't know anything about the bassist and drummer except they make a great rhythm section.

This is a 3 song ep simply titled White Chip. I would have liked a full length release but I can settle with 3 of the best rock songs I have heard in awhile. The first song is "Jigsaw Puzzled Again" not a flaw in this song at all! Everything seems to be in place, the riffs are strong, and the backbeat is tight as well. The Vocals are the highlight to me. Colt is one helluva singer and lyricist as well. The lyrics, "My Joan of Arc, she got a needle sticking out her arm" amuse me deeply. Next up is my favorite song off the ep. "The White Chip Song" this song rawks my face completely off! I just can't get enough of it personally. The song is a rocker from beginning to end, all of the things you can expect from a classic rock oriented band. Again the lyrics have me laughing my ass off! "I'm so very glad I'm not in the drug rehab" Man that is funny as hell. I am sure Colt means every word as well. Last song on the ep is called "Strychnine" a great classic rock themed song that I enjoy every time I hear it. The drums and bass on the song make me wanna shake my ass! You know that's crazy, cuz I don't shake ass, I bang heads.

These Asphalt Blaster boys aint fooling around. My friend this is the real deal when it comes to ROCK! Go to their website check some tunes out and buy the cd! ROCK is for everybody, even your Grandmother can get off to this..
