The Atomic Bitchwax Boxriff [CD/DVD] By: Black Angel |
Until now I'd only heard the name The Atomic Bitchwax without the music to go along with it. Well, that's all changed now with the release of their new CD/DVD release entitled, Boxriff. Now, that I've heard the band, I'm not inclined to label them Stoner Rock and go on about my business, they're much more than that, they're a damned good Rock N' Roll band, bottom line.
The only thing somewhat bothersome about this release is the fact that there are only four new tracks, but since I've never heard of the band it's still a treat to me. Long time fans might find this troubling, however with the added bonus of the band's entire set at Seattle's Sunset Tavern on DVD being thrown in the package, it'll make it worth while. The DVD was recorded and shot fairly well considering they were in a small club and on a shoestring budget, no doubt. Further adding strength, is the mix and mastering that went into the show, it doesn't actually sound live most of the time, if you can believe that! On the cd, you have the four new tracks which are stout as hell; the best of them being the tracks "Turn Me On" and "Kiss The Sun". Then you have the entire live set of the DVD added on for your hearing pleasure as well. I'm a little speechless as I've just heard the band and it's hard to put into words just how good they are in and out of the studio. One thing is for sure, there aren't many three-piece bands putting it down like this anywhere in the U.S. If you like a face full of ROCK combined with feedback, fuzz, Jazz and swamp love, then you'll definitely enjoy The Atomic Bitchwax! |
