The Barbarellatones Interview With A Glampire [CD] By: Black Angel |
Glamfags and white trash transvestites beware, there's a glampire on the prowl in the form of Robbie Quine, who proudly fronts the band, The Barbarellatones. The greatest dragger of them all has returned with a new disc just in time for Halloween! Really this should comes as no surprise: Quine and his 'Tones put out a few cd's a year and none of them are half-assed. Each and every one will rock your cock harder than the last. Keeping with the spirit of the spooky season, The 'Tones' new disc is amusingly entitled, Interview With A Glampire.
Due to the title of the disc and the extravagant packaging I was looking for a spooky album from beginning to end, but that's not the case then again I'm not bothered at all. Quine as he always does blows my mind once again with his tongue-in-cheek lyrics and coocky stlye of singing and playing. This is most present in the title track "Interview With a Glampire", which happens to be one of the best off of the disc. Not only does it come equipped with pipe-organs, violins and mandolins but it somewhat follows the original story of the book/movie, "Interview With A Vampire". Say what you want but I loved both the movie and the book and Quine only strengthens my appreciation in this tune. We also have another spooky anthem wherein Quine shows us he has excellent taste in the track "Boris Karloff". And we know Quine had to go and write more great tunes about life - "Unholy Love" and "Rainbows And Razorblades". For a moment I can close my eyes and I'm sweetly taken back to my younger days when I listened to Terry Jacks' classic tune "Seasons In The Sun" constantly. This I know for sure, nobody else has the ability to warm my heart like Quine does on these types of songs. If you're really familiar with Quine's music, you know he can't make a disc without a slew of silly, laughable tracks and you'll find them tightly wrapped up in "Milfin'!", "The Ballad Of Boxcar Bertha", "Cornhuskin' Man" and the hilarious "Will She Respect Me In The Morning". In the latter, Quine goes as far to say "I really hope her pussy don't stink". Call it toilet humor or whatever you like, but you can't tell me you've never met a chick in a bar and thought the very same thing. I never get tired of hearing Robbie Quine's music, he's a fucking God, it's as simple as that! It doesn't matter whether it's The Barbarellatones, The Prancing Ponies or Sex With Lurch, it's always gonna be a great time that I can go back and re-live over and over again. The only thing that could be better than listening to his music constantly would be to see him live in the flesh and I haven't experienced that one yet, but I'm hopeful. Do stop by and check this disc out, I can't stress how good it is. |
