Founded in Norway in 2004 by Gerhard Storesund, Aksel Herloe, and Glesnes, the adding of Siggy Olaisen and Ole Moldesaether brought completion to Battered. Sticking with true Norwegian work ethic, the band released its debut album in that same year. With this self titled release in 2006, I can't find enough good things to say. There seems to be a Norwegian uprising of 1990's era Thrash Metal......and I fucking love it! Battered can easily hold their own among heavy hitters such as Deicide, Slayer, Pantera, Kreator, Necrophagia, Death, Obituary and early Testament. Imagine that! Think of what that means. Yes, these guys fucking rock. God damn! Every song is like the best Slayer/Exodus/Testament guitar riff there ever was. Battered go more for shred and groove than doom or blast beats....and that's a good thing.
I know that this review must seem short, but all I can say is that it is great. That's it. Plain and simple. Do you remember how you felt when you heard the first Pantera song or maybe Slayer? Same thing here. It just grabs you and you're hooked. Every song is a direct hit....in the nards. Pick this up ASAP or you'll seriously be missing a great band. |
