Bible Of The Devil

The Diabolic Procession

[CD]

By: Black Angel

Out of the badlands of Chicago comes Bible Of The Devil a rompin' with their newest release entitled The Diabolic Procession. This will be the fourth disc for these Indie Rock veterans and although I've not had the pleasure of sampling any of their other albums, The Procession seems to be on pace enough to kick some serious ass in comparison.

BOTD quickly remind of the late 70's-early 80's Metal scene. The majority of the songs here are filled with big hooks and melodies, specifically the chorus lines. What further adds to the nostalgia is the attack of the evil twin guitar tandem found in Hoffman and Perry. Although it's not as extravagant as Maiden it still rings a bell back to early days of Murray and Smith. Hoffman who also handles vocals, sounds like a hybrid mix of Udo Dirkschneider and the lead screamer of Krokus. Speaking of Krokus, the entire album seems like it could be Headhunter part II. Of course it's not, thanks to the methodical and well thought-out breakdowns, but it does flow and leave an impression much like Headhunter. The stand outs are "Orphans Of Doom", "The Elusive Miracle" and "Millenialism"

I can honestly say I'm overly pleased with the band's latest effort and barring the silly band name, they should fair well in Europe and certain areas here in the U.S., specifically the South.
