Creepsville Entertainment

Conducted 12/05

By: T.J.

What is Creepsville Entertainment and what is your position?

Creepsville Entertainment: CE is an "all in one" horror company that does film, music and literature. We are also moving into TV and comics as well. I own it and run it with a kick ass team of folks who really see the same vision which is great.

What led to the creation of Creepsville Entertainment?

I am very creative and I noticed that when I was writing scripts that I would flake a bit on the band and vice versa, so in the beginning, it was just a way for me to get all my stuff out. I just want to make movies more than anything else and this sort of umbrella corp. seemed to work.

What is your primary goal for Creepsville Entertainment? What exactly do you wish to accomplish?

To be able to do anything I want to do. In our bios and on the website we always say "WORLD CONQUEST!" and I think that is what I really want; to just take over the world with this company. We have a short film called "The Room Mate" that we are shooting in about a week which is real fun. Last night, we finalized a deal to do a cable TV show which is gonna kick ass! It's called "Creep Creepersin's Creepsville Creepsachusetts" which is a cross between a late night talk show and Mystery Science Theatre. It will be local right now but we are pushing it outside. We start shooting BLR in January and have 4 more features to do next year.

You've got a pretty substantial amount of artists you're working with, such as Creepersin, Others, Antarctica vs. The World, Ambivalence, and Rebel Hearts just to name a few . Who do you believe are some of the more original and creative bands you're working with?

All of them are great. The comp. we are doing right now is a contest. Fans get to vote on our site about what bands they like the best and whoever wins gets a record deal with us. What I do like about it is how different the bands are. We have horror rock, death metal, goth, industrial and psychobilly. It is just a lot of fun for me because I like all types of music, but to mention a band....13 tombs, from Scotland, are fucking amazing. There are so many really cool bands on it I don't really want to start putting my 2 cents in, but I will tell you that every band on the comp is fucking great.

What exactly does it take to become a member of the Creepsville Entertainment family? I highly doubt you just accept any band or artist that comes your way…

We want to put out all genres of dark music. In fact we are going to be putting out this blues guy, Jimi Blackstone, who is all like delta voodoo shit but on top of that, we are an entertainment company so we want entertainers; folks who put on a great show.

Creep, how difficult isit to concentrate all your time and energy into so many different projects? I mean you're putting together compilation albums, shooting films and videos and that's just the beginning. How do you do it all and still have enough time to take care of Creepersin?

I think I have different personalities or something because for a couple hours, I'll be busting ass on a new Creepersin song then a line of dialog will come into my head and then I'm off doing that for a few hours. I don't sleep much. The hardest thing I think is making time for my family that is most important, but with the music and the films and the books, I feel like they are all related; the entire same thing; like you can't have one without the other. On a side note Creepersin is doing a new song for the comp called "Dead Girl's Not Dead" which I am so geeked out about. I can't wait for the comp to come out.

Speaking of shooting films, you're directing the film Blood Lust Romance. Could you shine some light on what the film is about?

It's just real fucked up. It's a home invasion robbery gone all fucked up. It's like if David Lynch did Last House on the Left. We had every major studio almost want it. Universal said it was the most disgusting thing they ever read and I'm sitting there going, "that is such a huge compliment". Reggie Banister from the Phantasm films is doing it. There are talks going on with Daisy Burkawtiz, the old Manson dude wanting to be in it. We are also trying to make sure 45 Grave is involved. I fucking love them, but more likely than not, Troma is going to distribute it. The tag line is "You Will Never be the Same Again". I want to keep as much of it in the dark as I can. …Just know you will be shocked and you will feel victimized.

Aside from musicians, Creepsville Entertainment supports writers as well, correct?

Yes. Terry d. Scheerer has a book called Dreams of Darkness, Dreams of Night that we are putting out next year as well as my book The Legend of Cartwayne Twain and we are going to be doing a series of Creepersin comic books as well

I know that Creepersin's new album Klatu…Verada…Creepersin! is due out in early 2006. What other releases can we expect in 2006?

We have the comp. the Blood Lust Romance soundtrack and the Valerie Fate soundtrack and the winners of the comp contest. Hopefully the Rebel Hearts album and in the spring/summer I am doing a solo album that I thought the stuff was too slow for Creepersin.

What's the most difficult situation(s) you've encountered so far since starting up Creepsville Entertainment?

Where to start? Everything has been hard-having our first investor pull out of the film a week before shooting, moving to Oregon to shoot the film, we are shooting in the house they shot Animal House which is neat. Getting bands to send in their songs on time; dealing with "Hollywood" type people but it is also so fucking rewarding.

Finally, is there anything you'd like to say to those who are unfamiliar with Creepsville Entertainment or who are just getting interested in the whole horror scene?

CE is changing the horror community. Within the next year, people will shit themselves. Knowing what you can do by just getting off your ass and doing it blows my mind. For those new to horror, CE is a good place to start and will most likely be the place you stay. We have so much going on all the time. Watch for the "Welcome to Creepsville" tour this spring and I'll see you on the road and at conventions and shit. TJ you rock. Thanks for the time.

The last thing I want to say is I have been dying to talk about this to someone and we were going to try to keep it to ourselves, but, we are going to be doing a remake (oh no not another one!) of Tod Brownings "FREAKS" so we will hopefully start pre-production on that, this time next year but we are very, very, geeked about that. So thanks again man. You got the scoop!
