Andrea Conducted 12/05 By: Black Angel |
How difficult is it for you to be a one man Black Metal band, in a world that's filled with Black Metal bands that have 7-8 members?
Andrea: You know, it's not so bad to be alone in this project, it's more difficult share the same interests with alot of people. Why only one man, surely you must want to play shows eventually or do you think you can move enough albums by word of mouth? I don't know if it would ever be possible since I am alone playing all of the instruments. But this is not essential because the main point is to transmit emotions. How is it that you came to be a Black Metal musician, have you always been on the dark path? I think I have always belonged to the dark, not only for my personal dramas but especially for my sad and solitary character. Your new full length, Towards The Castle was a brilliant disc; I enjoyed the hell out of it! How much fun and pain was it for you to make it? It could seem a penous hard work, but actually it's not so hard when you are pushed by passion and the inspiration comes to you. In this way, I get so much fun and satisfaction.
Don't be ashamed because there are no lyrics in my songs, they’re just pure expression of my soul which comes out through in voice. Maybe it seems unusual but I made this choice because it sounded banal to me, to right down sentences just to follow the musical composition's standard. In my opinion the voice manages perfectly to express the sorrows of the mind. Besides sometimes lyrics diverts listeners toward another interpretation which is different from the imagined one. On the other hand, my music speaks for itself and doesn't need explanations. While we are on the subject of songs, do you have a particular favourite off the cd? If so, what sets it apart from the others to you? My favorite one is "Melancholy Rain" because it came closer to the final result that I wanted to reach. The album as a whole has a very somber, melancholic feel to it. Would I be right in assuming this? Yes, in fact all of the albums that will follow "Toward The Castle" will be even more damned.
It's too early yet, but from the first reviews, I realized that they speak well about it. What was Moribund's initial reaction when they first heard the final product? It reminded them a lot the old horror movies. I know there are several one man bands out nowadays; it seems to be a trend lately. What seperates FOE from the pack? Perhaps 'cause I manage to be myself without the care of how it could appear in somebody else's eyes. How soon can we expect another album from you? Interesting albums are coming soon in 2006, obviously with the same coherent flow of emotions and where as always, the professional evolution doesn't represent an important rule. When you are not writing/working on music how do you occupy your time? My passions besides the music are: computer, photo, films and running my business. Is there one single band that influences your work the most? There's no band in particular. I will say that everyday life conditions me a lot when it comes to the music I compose. Do you have any last words for our readers? Listen to and appreciate the music made by the soul. |
