(Jens)

Conducted 05/06

By: Boris Randall

Tell us about the writing process for Revenge:

Jens: Well Iron Fire had lots of songs ready that never had been recorded so we sat down and found 9 songs from the archive and wrote some new ones.

The production is great! When the album wascompleted did you feel that it was your best recording to date?

Yes we did, we have a great line-up today and we enjoy playing music. We are all good friends and that makes things much less complicated.

The slower, chunkier songs have alot of groove. It's very powerful. Is this something we may be hearing more of in the future?

I think so, I believe that we will mix the album like we did on revenge. Some fast ones and some heavy groovy ones.

How much time did it take to knock this one out in the studio?

We did all of the drum, bass and guitar tracks in 7 days, then Martin Steene did the vocals back home and finally we sent the music back to Tommy for the mix and mastering. So all in all I think we spent three or four months.

Your sound is very unique. What elements do you think come together to make up this sound?

I dont really know, we know that Tommy Hansen does things the old way with the sound and that is what we like.

What are your plans with the release of this album?

Of course we would like to sell lots of records and tour alot but in the end it's really cool just to be back with Iron Fire and we are enjoying every minute.

Collectively, who do you site as influences?

Thats a really hard one because we all bring different influences to Iron Fire, but Heavy Metal is the fouding stone it all comes from.

The guitar tone is refreshing because it's not washed out with 700 pounds of gain! Tell us what gear was used and how many guitar tracks you recorded.

I couldn't tell you because I hit on the drums, but I think we used a Line6 pod and the guitar tracks vary between 2 to 6, but don't qoute me on this please.

If a listener could only hear one of your albums, which one would you recommend?

For me On The Edge has always been a favorite but Revenge is the album that to my ears works the best, so my answer is REVENGE.

Revenge is your first album released through Napalm, how has it been working with them so far?

I think they do a good job, we have been promoted well and they have already sent us on tour, They are doing what they said they would!

Would you like to leave us/your fans with any last words?

Just that we are hoping to come over for a tour soon, so we can see all of our fans, friends and also have a great summer. Cheers!
