Black Angel Head Honcho |
On a hot summer night in 1975, deep in the dark depths of the Southern swamps, an illegitimate son of man was brought forth to an unsuspecting world. This child would be known as Black Angel. Raised on Southern Baptist beliefs and dragged through every hypocritical church this side of the Mississippi, Black Angel soon formed an opinion of the world and the ignorance therein. To find a cure for his poisoned mind he turned to the "Devil's Music" (Rock and Roll). He swallowed the Rock down as fast as he could, leaving no stone unturned. He relished them all, from AC/DC to Twisted Sister to W.A.S.P. Soon this young man felt the need to create the Rock himself. Much to the dislike of his parental figures the young man had "Sold his soul for Rock and Roll". All hope for a nice little bible thumping lad was gone; his mother embraced it and soon became his sidekick in getting him the rock he so desperately needed. Starting out on Pawn Shop instruments, he began to hone his craft. Black Angel soon became one of the youngest, most charismatic music scholars in the south. Soon, after playing around with all kinds of instruments, Black Angel decided drums would be the altar from which he would preach his madness. Since this decision, Black Angel has played in several different bands in the south and has been a musical juggernaut and somewhat of a radical tyrant.
Many years down the road this young man got somewhat weary of the Rock lifestyle and decided to turn his efforts towards helping up and coming musicians who had the same intensity in their eyes that he once bore. How has he helped these musicians? First, he aligned himself with a record label that had great potential, called Antidote Records, and began promoting the label's bands and their efforts. Soon, he created his own promotion machine; Black Angel Promotions. Black Angel has and still works closely with a few of the following record labels; Fiendforce, Century Media, Candlelight, Metal Blade, Abacus, SPV/Steamhammer, Nuclear Blast, Dr. Cyclops Records, Divine, Sanctuary, Napalm and Spitfire. Outside of all the music business, Black Angel enjoys spending time with his lovely undead bride, The Angel Of Mercy and their beautiful fur babies- Stimey, Maggie and Mr. Barlow. Black Angel also amuses himself by watching tons of horror movies from any time period. He is also a Hot Rod enthusiast and is currently hard at work on restoring a 1977 Malibu Classic. Aside from music his vices are smoking and drinking lots of Code Red Mountain Dew. And last but not least, he'll take in a good concert every chance he gets! |
Sin Flunkie |
Sin's been in the music biz for over 20 years and currently finds himself spending most of his time running the internationally distributed indie label Antidote Records. Being Black Angel's close friend he considers it an honor to be able to help out with this site. Unfortunately, he can't contribute on a regular basis due to all of his other responsibilities... In the past he's published his own zines, written freelance, fronted bands, booked shows, D.J.'ed, worked for indie and major labels ... and just about every other aspect of the music biz. Never one to stagnate, he loves discovering new, original bands and has a special place in his heart [and ears] for 80s New Wave music ... while also having a passion for old-school Punk/Hardcore/Metal, Industrial and everything from Johnny Cash to Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave. You can listen to his radio show, @ntiRADIO, each and every Friday at the ungodly hour of 3 to 5:30 AM (Mountain Time). |
T.J. Flunkie |
"Come into the shadows cold Everything here is all that you'll ever need Out here in the ruins lies my tortued fallen soul Out here on a black star, all the cities look like graveyards And your body falls cold on the floor In a cobweb dress That's how it all falls down" |
Johnny Hyde (Hydro) Flunkie |
Johnny Hyde is his name, a man of technology and a man of the east. He attributes his musical skills to The Guild Navigators and Hyde Syndicate. In the little spare time that is left he slings his writing and interviewing skills to Black Angel and his mighty rockin site. He enjoy's most styles of music, but my loyaltys lye in classical, punk, industrial, synth/future pop and a wee bit of goth and metal. Without music, life would be meaningless! |
