Who or what was it that you got you into music in the first place?

Justin: We have always been big fans of music in general. We were playing in a lot of local bands that aren’t worth mentioning before TTEOTD formed and we sort of met that way.

Have you always been into making Melodic, Brutal Death Metal like TTEOTD?

I’m a big fan of old school death metal from the early 90’s, but I always liked bands like At the Gates and In Flames so that’s where we get our melodic influence. Our other guitar player, Chris, listens to a lot of European metal and we just combine influences and it gives us our own sound.

In your opinion, what sets TTEOTD apart from all of the other Death Metal out these days?

I think we are a bit more structured and we have melodic parts balanced out with the heavier parts. I wouldn’t really consider us a straight up death metal band though, there’s a lot more to it.

Recently the band released its full-length debut, BLOODLUST, on Prosthetic Records. So far, how has the reception to the album and the band been?

The record is selling really well right now and our fans are giving us really good feedback about the record. It feels really good to have all of our hard work paying off, so we’re all stoked about it.

How happy are you with the end result of Bloodlust, any regrets?

I think “Bloodlust” is definitely our best material to date. We are a lot more focused and mature on the CD comparing to the records we’ve done in the past so there are definitely no regrets. It’s just another step we’ve taken as a band and things can only get better during our career.

Out of the nine songs presented on the album, which would you say is your favorite or best represents the band's sound?

Hmmm, that’s tough. I’d have to go with “Force Fed Trauma” or “When Everything Becomes Nothing”. Both of those songs were the newest ones written and best show the direction we are going in so they definitely represent TTEOTD.

You've been out on the road with Behemoth for the past few months in support of the album. How much fun is it to tour with a band like Behemoth?

We actually were out with Ion Dissonance, The Red Death, and Embrace the End on this past tour. It was an awesome tour and we had a lot of fun other than the van problems we encountered.

Have all the shows been packed out with TTEOTD fans or have you been conforming them left and right?

I’d say the shows were a mixture. I think we definitely gained some fans on this tour, but we also had a lot of people there just to see us, which was really awesome.

The band is notorious for keeping a heavy tour schedule, after the Behemoth tour, who do you plan on going out with?

We have a tour lined up in November/December with our good friends from SC called The Classic Struggle and our friends from GA called The Knife Trade. It’s a short three week tour to the Midwest and back, so it should be a lot of fun. We have big plans for January but nothing is set in stone yet, so I can’t really say right now.

Is there a certain touring package you'd like to get on?

We’d definitely like to play with bigger metal bands, so we can kind of showcase our sound to that crowd.

To you personally, what are the highs and lows of constantly being on tour?

A lot of people think touring is all in fun, but there’s a lot of stress on the road as well. We went through 3 vans on the tour we just finished up. Our first van on the tour actually went up in flames and we lost a lot of personal belongings. Luckily it didn’t reach our equipment in the trailer though. You go through obstacles here and there but if you are strong you can definitely overcome it all.

As for the pros on tour, meeting new people and getting our music out there is really cool. We also like playing to new venues and people who haven’t seen us yet. We’ve met a lot of really awesome people and bands on tour.

Let's change gears a little bit..

When the band is not touring or rehearsing new tunes, what do you guys do to keep busy?

We just hang out at home and do things that everyone else does. Some of us work. I’m constantly busy doing stuff for the band at home as well. My girlfriend and I run the merchandise store for TTEOTD so that keeps us busy. We are also constantly writing new material because we are influenced every day by different things.

Seeing as how you just released a new album, what do you think of downloading music on the 'net?

I think there is a good and bad side to it all. The good is that you can get a lot of promotion that way. We’ve definitely benefited from the internet through myspace, hxcmp3, and purevolume. But with the good comes the bad. Some people out there just download music and have no intentions on buying anything at all. I’m not like that. I do like to preview albums before they come out and if it’s good I will definitely buy it which is an added bonus, but I like having all of the artwork in the package. It represents the album to me rather than having a burned, lifeless copy of the CD you know?

You're signed to Prosthetic Records, what made them the right label for the band as opposed to someone like Metal Blade?

We had a few offers before Prosthetic, but we definitely knew that Prosthetic was the right label to go with. We’ve worked out the deal since December of 2004. They’ve helped us out in so many ways since then. I like the fact that there aren’t hundreds of bands on the label as well, so we get treated a little more personal.

How hard was it to get the deal? Are you guys happy with everything so far?

We actually sent our stuff to them through e-mail and Jerry (who is no longer with them) said he was really into us and he’d let the owner know about us. We got contacted shortly after that and the rest is history. We are very happy with them and we don’t regret a thing.

If you could give one piece of final advice to any up and coming band trying to break in the business, what would it be?

I’d say just keep practicing and tour as much as possible. The internet is a big part in promoting your band as well. Just never give up and try to set yourselves apart from other bands.

I enjoyed the disc immensely, thanks for keeping it HEAVY!

Thanks man, we really appreciate it. Also thanks a lot for the interview! Please check our official website out to get more updates from the band.
